چکیده
This paper investigates probabilistic failure envelopes of strip foundations on spatially variable soils with profiles undrained shear strength, s u , linearly increasing depth using lower-bound random finite-element limit analysis. The is characterised by a non-stationary field mean and constant coefficient variation (COV) depth. deterministic uniaxial capacities are first derived to validate the numerical models provide reference for subsequent Results indicate that parameters COV su (the ) ? (dimensionless autocorrelation distance) have considerable effect normalised capacities, which alters size envelopes. However, an insignificant shape observed in V–H, V–M H–M loading spaces, such different soil variabilities can be simply scaled capacities. In contrast ?, strength heterogeneity index ? = ? k B/? su0 has lowest capacity factors, but highest A series expressions proposed describe under combined vertical, horizontal moment (V–H–M) loading.

Theoretical Undrained Shear Behaviour of Unsaturated Soils
Prediction method for undrained shear behaviour of unsaturated soils is discussed in this paper. Based on Original Cam Clay model, authors have proposed constitutive model for unsaturated soils that the effect of water content is incorporated into superloading surface concept. Firstly, stress path of constant volume shear test is formulated under constant void ratio condition. And relationship ...

Cohesive-frictional soils are widely used in the construction of embankment structures and due to the method of construction, i.e. applying compactive efforts in the vertical direction in these cases, the occurrence of anisotropy in the soil strength and permeability seems to be inevitable. In this study, attempts have been made to evaluate the shear strength of c-f soils through modifying a l...

cement is an essential ingredient in the concrete buildings. for production of cement considerable amount of fossil fuel and electrical energy is consumed. on the other hand for generating one tone of portland cement, nearly one ton of carbon dioxide is released. it shows that 7 percent of the total released carbon dioxide in the world relates to the cement industry. considering ecological issu...
non-linear study of various slit shear walls in steel structures
seismic retrofit strategies have been developed in the past few decades following the introduction of new seismic provisions and the availability of advanced materials and methods. it can be observed that new approaches to deal with more lateral forces are more innovative and more energy absorbent. in line with this, there is a growing trend toward the use of steel shear walls as a system with ...
